The 10th annual Fall Conference was a success! Thanks to panelists
Rich Tunkel ('94),
Jeff Wade ('97), Josh Wolff ('03), Geoff Herbert ('05), and Veronica Ripson ('10) for an engaging day of information and fantastic discussion. Attendees were Tweeting throughout the day, including
Angela Hu ('12):
"Really informative panel about social media, so glad WJPZ put it on -- thank you!"
Zack Molle ('14): "Learned a lot of great stuff from WJPZ alumni."
Topics included:
- The future of radio
- Self branding and networking/getting a gig
- Social media do's and don'ts--both for individuals and brands.
- Station marketing and how to drive eyeballs to the website.
- Getting back to the fundamentals with in-depth coaching for programming, news, sports, sales, social media, etc.
It was great seeing the passion running through WJPZ and this thirst for learning. Also at the Conference, the WJPZ Alumni Association unveiled a revamped version of the mentoring program. What this means to you: we are currently seeking alumni who have time and knowledge to offer current WJPZ staff members. This would not be a big time commitment on your part, but it would make a world of difference to current students who are looking for feedback.
We need alumni in all fields of expertise: on-air, news, sports, marketing/promotions, production. You will be paired up with a student to offer your insight. It's a great way to give back to the station that means so much to all of us.
