"This Hour of Alumni Programming Has Been Made Possible By..."
Anybody who has ever worked at WJPZ recognizes this phrase. It's a staple of the Z89 broadcast hour, when it thanks the local donors and partners who make the music possible.

The Alumni Association is no different. Our foundation is the heart, soul and passion of our alumni, but our backbone is financial giving from alumni, alumni-owned companies, and industry donors each year.

With between 80 and 90 percent of charitable dollars directly allocated to programming and endowment, your contributions help drive our many programs, including:

  • The Rick Wright 'Lock' Award. This annual award and cash prize recognizing a WJPZ upperclassman was fully endowed in 2006 thanks to your contributions. We hope to grow it in coming years.

  • Industry Conferences for Students. Each year, we send three students, all expenses paid, to real world training to vital industry conferences such as The Conclave Learning Conference and R&R. Through the Steven Berrell Exploration & Leadership Award, the General Manager and Program Director will be sent to R&R and The Conclave, respectively, with the purpose of fostering and encouraging an exploratory spirit among WJPZ students and providing real-world training and education for WJPZ leadership.

  • WJPZ Conferences and Speakers. From supporting the annual Fall Conference to helping to bring high profile keynote speakers back to campus for the banquet, your funds help current students and alumni engage in personal conversations with industry leaders.

  • Networking. Alumni events, such as the East Coast Picnic, are supported by your funds. Other networking initiatives, such as departmental alumni/student conference calls and/or email chat sessions, may also be coordinated.

  • www.wjpzalumni.org. The website and our electronic newsletter, the eTransmitter, allow us to be an influential networking resource and recruiting vehicle.
